“The Lizard of Park Guell”
At the end of the 19th century, the greatest representative of Catalan Modernism, Antonio Gaudi, showed Spain the perfection of his creations inspired by nature. His next masterpiece in Barcelona, “Güell's colorful and mosaic garden” was home to the pearl of his animalistic works. Built in 1914, the "Mosaic Salamander" (as the locals call it) or "El Drak" translates as "The Dragon". The favorite statue of visitors to the park was created in collaboration with Joseph Maria Jujo, using broken fragments of mosaic tiles of different colors, shapes and sizes.
